Selectus Release 5.6
The new Selectus release 5.6 introduces a new feature to create ‘hidden’ positions.
In addition, the new release includes improvements to the authentication and password management for local users, as well as usability improvements in the application workflow.
Hidden positions
Sometimes Selectus is used for evaluation procedures that should to be advertised or published, e.g. for promotions or tenure-track evaluations. The new feature allows you to hide the advertisement or description of such positions, i.e. it is possible not to display such a position on the page with all open positions. This means that only people who know the link to the application or advertisement can submit their application to such a ‘hidden’ position.
Authentication for local users
Selectus is usually connected to the customer’s identity management system, meaning that users can authenticate themselves with their normal institutional login details. However, to enable users without an institutional account – such as external committee members – to access Selectus, a local Selectus account can be created for them. A link can now be sent to these users directly from the user management or committee management of a position so that they can set their own password. In addition, two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled by default for these users.
Usability improvements
In earlier versions of Selectus, applicants could choose the position to which they wanted to apply in the first step of the application workflow. However, this tended to lead to slight confusions rather than additional benefits.

The workflow now starts directly with the ‘Instructions’ step. If the application workflow is available in German and English, applicants can select the language directly in this step. For positions that are only available in one language, the ‘Instructions’ step is displayed directly in the respective language. As an additional help for applicants, the title of the positions is automatically visible in the title of each step of the application workflow.
Further improvements and bug fixes
All new features and further improvements and bug fixes are described in detail in the Release Notes 5.6.
